Simulacrum

Ahmed Radi

Back through the years
There was a world
Saturated with so many images
That it confounded
The original with its fake copy.

Images became hyper-reality,
A norm,
Invading more than one place
And space.

With imported or smuggled TV sets
Folks in slums
Saw their images mediated,
Then covered and distorted
By polished pictures
That triggered off
Libidinal desires of a fictive paradise.
