My photo was interesting, in that way the “real” photos college kids take when they venture abroad and visit an orphanage are interesting.  Interesting like those millions of photos of black children smiling through poverty.  Interesting like a National Geographic photograph of indigenous subjects and grimy folk culture.  Interesting, even, like those commercial advertisements that Sontag so damningly describes capitalizing on the socially conscious cool of photographically confronting disadvantage and difference.
