Transcript of a Presentation by the ARC Studio Architecture & Urbanism, URA Centre, 7 May 2002

Definitely, density was the issue. This is a picture taken somewhere near Holland Village. It’s a 21-storey U-shape block. What you see in the picture contains 84 units and 14 storeys. What we are looking at is 48 storeys and 1800 units. So the scale is something we had to deal with, with density – how close the units are to each other. So we tried to achieve as many open views as possible. Looking at this, we told ourselves: “As far away as possible, as open as possible.”
