(Detail) Right front corner, Sri Veerama Kaliamman Temple, Serangoon. April 2001. On the corners of the temple wall sit females guardians armed with tridents in hand and lions on both sides. The use of white and red symbolizes purity and sacrifice respectively: these colors also demarcate sacred space.
