(Left) The beautiful Singapore skyline framed by the harbor that made the city possible: stacked containers at the right and the gigantic container cranes of the Tanjong Pagar terminal at left. Driving along the highway alongside, one sees that these cranes go on for miles. (Middle) A container ship in the process of being unloaded. (Right) Cranes silhouetted against the late afternoon sun.

(Left) The giant container cranes of Tanjong Pagar. (Middle) A container ship making its way into the inner harbor flanked by an enormous ocean-going tug, which appeared two to three times the size of the harbor tugs in Providence and New York. (Right) Harbor waters, small boats, and the skyline. The four similar towers at left are part of the Suntec City development.
